The laser cutting method uses a laser beam to cut metal or to cut out shapes from metal. It involves melting the material being cut by applying a focused laser beam to the surface of the material. This method allows for cutting metal and cutting out any shape in metal material, plus incising, engraving and marking metal, including foil-coated sheets. Since laser cutting is a contactless method, it allows for cutting out shapes from ground and polished metal sheets without damaging the surface of the sheet. A clear advantage of this method is that it has a limited thermal effect on the metal being cut and so the structure of the metal remains unaffected. The laser cutting technology allows for quality metal processing at high cutting speeds. The cutting tolerance for a broad range of metals is +/- 0.1 mm. The shapes cut out from metal sheets are, in most cases, the finished product, with no additional processing required. Also, laser cutting allows for cutting out any number of identical pieces of metal in any shape, regardless of its complexity and the size of the production batch. This helps to avoid using (often) very expensive die plates. Additionally, with specialist software used in the laser cutting machine, the shapes to be cut out can be optimally arranged on the metal sheet, which results in the amount of metal waste being reduced to a minimum.

Metalmix uses TruLaser 3030, one of the most advanced laser cutting machines, with a resonator power of 4 kW, manufactured by TRUMPF, a German manufacturer of laser and production technology. This machine has the ability to process the following material thicknesses:
- structural steel - up to 20 mm
- stainless steel - up to 15 mm
- aluminium - up to 10 mm
The working area is 3000 mm x 1500 mm.
